Some historians believe it evolved from a Mexican game called Conquian, while others link it to the Chinese game Mahjong or the European game Whiskey Poker. Regardless of its exact origins, rummy has become a beloved pastime, celebrated for its simplicity and depth.
The name “rummy” is believed to have originated from the British slang term “rum,” which means odd or peculiar. This could refer to the unique combination of cards required to win the game. Another theory suggests that the name comes from the word “rumbullion,” an old English term for a tumultuous gathering, reflecting the lively nature of the game.

Rummy is all about forming sets and sequences, which requires players to think strategically and adapt to changing circumstances.
